I knew I wanted to be an artist since I was 6 years old. In school, the only class I truly felt at home and in my element was art. I studied art in college, and spent the next several years engaged in creative work until I gave up to work full time in other industries. After about a 15 year hiatus altogether from creating art, I have been led to paint again by seemingly divine intervention and have rediscovered the same love and serenity from the chaos that I found in elementary school art classes. In 2015 I picked up the brush again and went immediately overboard with it. Obviously fully submerged in art and painting is where I was supposed to be all along, and my heart couldn‘t be any happier.
I enjoy more than anything, working in watercolor and oil. Charcoal and graphite are my foundational mediums and sometimes enjoy going back to basics, especially with offering the charcoal portraits.
I have found great purpose in hand-etching images onto granite memorials and monuments.
It has now been 9 years since I picked painting back up, and it began with the commitment to “paint for me” which gave me a solid foundation for my art that is rooted in happiness and enjoyment. I hope the feelings of inspiration and awe of beautiful scenery is transferred to the viewer.
