For a few reasons, hand etching rises to the top, most notably longevity and flexibility of design. Hand etching won't erode from weather as quickly as laser etching because the marks penetrate the stone more deeply. It can also hold hand painted coloring that the shallower laser etching cannot hold. All machine-etched methods must rely on computer input of your original images and can only produce the quality of photo you put into it. With hand etching, real artistic skill is required. Photos can be artistically improved, changed, and be arranged in ways that only the human touch can achieve. An artist can reach the soul of the subject to translate it to something your eyes can perceive and your heart can feel.
Landscapes are a way to memorialize your loved one's life in a more encompassing way whether actual places from real photos or imagined scenery that can include houses, people, farms, vehicles, countryside, seascapes, mountainscapes, cabins, wildlife, pets, and farm animals. The possibilities are endless.

My mission and motivation is to breathe beauty and dignity into an everlasting memorial to preserve memories of a precious life. I find great meaning and satisfaction in serving my fellow human in this way and it is my honor to be chosen to do this work. Taking action to memorialize the passing of a loved one can be very healing and I hope to help in facilitating that process.
I found this occupation serendipitously while I was in the process of purchasing my father's memorial and although it had been over 8 years until I began practicing, the idea had lingered there in my mind until making it a reality.
